I am a parent of two children with disabilities. I was most upset to learn that Family Support programs were not included in the State's 507 budget plan. I am hoping that this was just a mistake and that these very important services will, most certainly, be included.

It is very difficult living with special needs children and to have the availability of support services is extremely valuable. Services that come into the home help with parenting needs as well as navigating the various systems involving my children.

Attending weekly support groups with other parents, where ideas are shared, is very comforting, knowing that I am not alone.

These services are free, which is very important, as many families do not have financial means to pay for such services.

Family Support services have helped my children immensely and have enabled me to keep my children at home, with their family, where they belong.

I sincerely hope that Family Support services will be included in the 507 State Budget and look forward to hearing more about this.
