Long Acting Atypical Anti-Psychotic Injections

Below is the process to utilize the state pharmacy prime vendor contract and MMCAP so that medications can be purchased from a wholesaler rather than from a local vendor.

First step: OGS

This is a link to the listing of entities that can use the contracts. www.ogs.ny.gov/purchase/snt/othersuse.asp Leaving OMH site
To confirm or  apply for a customer number from OGS to use the contracts, contact OGS Procurement Services Customer service at:

Procurement Services Group: Customer Services

Empire State Plaza
Albany, NY 12242
Tel: (518) 474-6717

Non profits need to have their reporting requirements up to date with the attorney general’s office in order to be eligible.  Our OGS counterpart, Todd Kayser, will confirm this with their office.   His contact information is:

Tel: (518) 474-4501
Fax: (518) 474-5052

Second step:  Apply for MMCAP Membership

A Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) can help contract for discounted rates.  There are several GPOs that you could choose from but most state agencies belong to Minnesota Multistate Contracting Alliance for Pharmacy (MMCAP).  It is NOT required that you join a GPO but you will receive much better pricing overall if your organization joins a group that negotiates price with the manufacturers on your behalf.

The information is listed on the MMCAP website on this page www.mmd.admin.state.mn.us/MMCAP/background/NewMemberInfo.aspx Leaving OMH site

You need to download and complete the MMCAP Application and Agreement (I also attached it here) and it will be submitted through our state procurement rep for MMCAP which is Todd Kayser at OGS.    Todd can help you if you have questions about the application and after he reviews, he'll send it to MMCAP.  MMCAP has two representatives per state, one for pharmacy and one for procurement (I'm the pharmacy rep).

Third step:  Establish an account with Cardinal

Once your facility decides to join MMCAP, another GPO, or chooses not to join, then you need to establish an account with Cardinal.

The Cardinal site is www.cardinal.com.Leaving OMH site As I searched the site it looks like clinics will fall under the physician accounts.Leaving OMH site The main customer service number for Cardinal is 800.926.3161  but more importantly, we have a brand new dedicated sales team for state contracts and our representative's name is Cyndi Tiburzio.  Her contact information is Cyndi Tiburzio and her phone is (614) 757-7057

The OGS contract for Cardinal as the Pharmaceutical Prime Vendor is www.ogs.state.ny.us/purchase/spg/awards/1020022000CAN.htm Leaving OMH site
and the dedicated customer service contact information is listed as:
Customer Service, Phone: (866) 641-1199, Fax: (866) 551-0530
Email: government-pharmaceutical
Business Hours: 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. EST, Monday to Friday

Under this contract, the clinic would be entitled to a delivery on Monday to Friday.  The clinic doesn't need to purchase any additional hardware as long as they have internet access.  You will be able to access the product catalog and place an order over the net using www.cardinal.com Leaving OMH siteor by phone.

When you speak with Cyndi or anyone from Cardinal, be sure that they know that you are a MMCAP member so that they connect you to our contract pricing and benefits.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you run into any road blocks or have suggestions.  I'd like to send this information out to the other eligible clinics as soon as possible but I do appreciate your help as a pilot for the procedure.
