Install Blended Case Management III from the Web

Installation Instructions for Blended Case Management III Version 3.1.5

NOTE: THESE ARE THE LATEST INSTRUCTIONS. DO NOT use the instructions printed in the manual.

NOTE: Please call the OMH Help Center at 1(800) HELPNYS if any step of these instructions is not perfectly clear to you.

IMPORTANT!!! You MUST make a backup copy of your BCM Database before doing this install.

If you are using version 1.x, STOP NOW. You must first install version 2.x before upgrading to version 3.1.5
If you are using version 2.x, do a "Windows Search" for a file called BLEND2_2000.MDB. It should be located in the following folder:

C:\Program Files\OMH\Blended Case Management\Data

If you are running on a network, it could be somewhere else. Ask your network administrator for assistance, if necessary.

Note: To determine what version you are using, start up the program and go to "Help" - "About". The version number will be shown on the "About screen".

Place the copy of this database elsewhere on your harddrive, and be sure to remember where you place it.

If you had difficulty making a copy of your BCM database as described above, please call the OMH Helpdesk at 1 (800) HELPNYS. You MUST NOT proceed until the copy is made.

  1. Make a backup copy of the database as described above.
  2. Close all programs that are running on your PC.
  3. To install from a CD:
    1. Place the CD in the drive. Wait a few seconds. If the install program comes up automatically, go right to step 5.
    2. Click your "Start" button on the bottom of the screen.
    3. Choose "Run" from the menu that comes up.
    4. Click the "Browse" button.
    5. From the "Look in" dropdown, select the CD Rom drive (usually "D").
    6. Double-click on "Setup.exe".
    7. Click on the "OK" button on the little "Run" window. An InstallShield Wizard window appears.
    8. Go to Step 5.
  4. Web Installation Instructions (for Internet Explorer):
    1. Hit the site: http://www.omh.state.ny.us/omhweb/blended/blend.htm
    2. Click on "Go to Program Download".
    3. Fill in the information and click "Submit".
    4. Click "Download Installation".
    5. Read & Print the Instructions.
    6. Click on "Continue to Program Download".
    7. Click the "InstallShield Wizard" button.
    8. Click the "Install" button on the Welcome Screen. An InstallShield Wizard window appears.
    9. Go to Step 5.
  5. Completing the Install:
    1. Click the "Next" button on the InstallShield Wizard" window.
    2. To install the application in the default folder click "Complete", Otherwise click "Custom"
      Note: The default installation directory is "C:\Program Files\OMH\Blended Case Management III"
    3. Click "Install".
    4. Click "Finish".
    5. There will be a new icon on your desktop called "Blended Case Management III".
    6. Close your web browser, if desired (if you installed from the web).
  6. To start the software, double-click on the NEW "Blended Case Management III" icon.
    Note: If you had a previous version of BCM installed you will have two BCM icons. Be sure to select the one from BCM III.
    A window will appear. It says "This is an empty database" and asks if you would like to import from a previous version.

    If you would like to import your old database (which you made a copy of):

    1. Click "Yes".
    2. Either type in the full path and name of the database or click the button with the 3 dots on it (this is a "Browse" button).
    3. Find the copy of the old database that you made in step 1. Where it says "Files of Type", leave it at "Ver2 BCM Databases". If browsing to find the Blend2_2000.mdb backup file, simply maneuver to the folder you placed it in and double click on the Blend2_2000.MDB file when you see it.
    4. Once the path/filename is indicated, Click the "Import" button.
    5. You may see some "ICM/SCM Conflict Resolution" messages. Indicate what you would like to do on each and click "OK".
    6. Read and click "OK" on the End User Agreement screen.
    7. Enter the default User ID and Password. The User ID is "admin" (lower case, no quotes) and the password is "temppw" (lower case, no quotes).
    8. Change the password as directed.

    If you would like to start off fresh with an empty database:

    1. Click "No".
    2. Read the license agreement and click OK.
    3. Read and click "OK" on the End User Agreement screen.
    4. Enter the default User ID and Password. The User ID is "admin" (lower case, no quotes) and the password is "temppw" (no quotes, lower case).
    5. Change the password as directed.
    6. Click "OK" on the Welcome Screen - you will be sent to the "Provider Information" screen. Fill that screen out and click "Save".
  7. After successfully installing and running BCM III, If you have any previous version of Blended Case Management installed, remove it:
    NOTES:
    If you see any windows warning that "a file that other applications may use" will be deleted, choose NOT to delete it.
    If you get messages that warn you that files whose name ends with ".RPT" will be deleted, go ahead and let it delete them.
    1. Go into "My Computer".
    2. Go into "Control Panel".
    3. Go into "Add/Remove Programs".
    4. Click on "Blended Case Management".
    5. Click the button that says "Change/Remove".
      • WARNING: Double-check to see that it is in fact Blended Case Management that you are removing. Sometimes Add/Remove Programs skips to and highlights something ELSE in the list!

    6. Select "Remove" (the bottom selection).
    7. Click "Next".
    8. Click "OK".
    9. Click "Finish".

NOTE: Some Windows 2000 machines are "locked down" by your administrator. If you receive a message about not being able to find the database or the reports, call 1 (800) HELPNYS for assistance.
