Fire Safety Videos

These training videos are divided into four distinct modules. Each module covers specific fire safety topics. All presentations are by the staff of the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control.. To ensure continuity it is advised that these videos be presented in sequential order.

Fire Safety Level 1 Unit 1

Video 1 : Fire Safety Awareness Leaving OMH site (approximately 60 min)

Description:
This video sets the stage for the urgency and importance of having staff trained in fire safety. It clearly identifies problems surrounding fire safety and how it can affect everyone.

Fire Safety Level 1 Unit 2

Video 2: Prevention and Hazards Leaving OMH site (approximately 60 min)

Description:
This video goes over the components of a fire and how to prevent fires. It identifies potential fire hazards in our residences and provides ways to minimize these potential hazards. This module reinforces the primary concept that the best way to reduce fire risk is through fire prevention.

Fire Safety Level 1 Unit 3

Video 3: Evacuation Execution Leaving OMH site (approximately 60 min)

Description:
This video reviews the proper steps staff must take when responding to a fire alarm or when discovering a fire. It explains the elements of the R.A.C.E. (Rescue, Alarm, Contain, Extinguish) evacuation acronym. It also describes what staff may or may not expect from the fire department.

Fire Safety Level 1 Unit 4

Video 4: Using a Portable Fire Extinguisher Leaving OMH site (approximately 15 min)

Description:
This video discusses the various types of fire extinguishers and their intended use. It demonstrates the proper use of a fire extinguisher. It explains the elements of the P.A.S.S. (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) acronym.
